Introduction


In this section we collect small pieces of information which don't fit in any of the other sections. Most of them where very useful for us in the past, so we don't want to keep it back from you.

USB to RS232-Adapter


The robot has to be programmed through an IR-Transceiver which is connected to the RS232 port on the computer side. Because most of the computers don't have an RS232 port anymore, it is necessary to get an USB to RS232-Adapter.
We chose this adapter from Amazon, which uses the widely compatible Prolific chipset. The chipset is supported by Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
The driver for Mac OS X can be found at SourceForge.
On Linux the device is already supported by the kernel module usbserial:
